It seems that every year every church calendar needs ensure that it steers clear of Superbowl Sunday as if it's a holiday of its own. Many churches also have projection systems. Rather than canceling Sunday evening activities on this day why not use the popularity of the game to the church's advantage.
Show the game with a message at half time. Invite the whole church as a church building event, make great snacks and invite friends, use it as a time to encourage family bonding during a football game rather than a time where the fathers ignore their children, etc.
